A friend of mine recently lent me her book Making Faces by Kevin Aucoin. If you haven’t heard of Kevin Aucoin, here is some background. This man was the beauty GOD. He was one of the most notable makeup artists of all time. He was highly desired as a makeup artist (charged up to $10,000.00 per session) and he was well known throughout the beauty industry. His best quality being that he was able to transform people faces into looks and fantasies that they never imagined were possible.
This book is absolutely amazing, as it has so many tricks and secrets about beauty and offers ways to create various looks.
Many of the looks in the book I have tried to accomplish on my own at one point or another, and sometimes when creating these exotic looks I would feel as if something was missing. I noticed that one of the main reasons why I could not achieve the exact look that I was going for was because of my eyebrows. As silly and simple as this may sound, its true. Imagine Marilyn Monroe’s Bombshell look, you don’t see big bushy Brooke Shields eyebrows. So when you are REALLY trying to accomplish a look every detail matters and that is what this book shows. It even teaches you how to cover the brows and draw them on to achieve the desired look you are going for.
There is a section on makeovers and another section on different looks. My favorite was the tips and secrets. Even if beauty is not your world I would recommend renting this book from a library or borrowing it as there are some great tips and answers to benefit from. I know I will!

Jean ~ Thanks for loaning me this wondrous book
