Photo Shoot Make-up

Creating looks that show up solid on camera for photo shoots is harder than it looks. The biggest challenge being that the camera flash shines through the color so much that it makes the created look almost completely washed out. A good solid look takes layers of makeup being applied – way beyond what you would use for everyday wear. It can almost look gaudy up close but the camera catches a completely different picture.

I ran into a complication the other day trying to create a rich golden look trying to make the model look majestic. First off, you have to think about the fact that gold is a light almost iridescent color. So how do you make it so it shows up on camera? This requires a good amount of gold and believe it or not I was finally successful when I made use of my Chrome Yellow Matte eyeshadow by MAC Makeup – a School Bus Yellow color. Up close the model’s face almost looked like a bumble bee with the bright yellow eye makeup applied under a golden iridescent color. However, on film it is transformed into a beautiful golden look.
